Occupational Summary
Manage the production and all business activities associated with the school's Publications Department. Work closely with faculty and students as well as outside agencies to utilize the most current technologies in the promotion of the School as a leader in electronic publishing and legal scholarly publications.
Work Performed
Develop, manage and direct the School's scholarly publishing initiatives in both print and electronic formats.
Consult regularly with faculty, staff and students in the development and implementation of innovative publishing initiatives. Manage the activities involved in making journals and other publications available.
Manage all business activities of the department, including, but not limited to, billing, advertising, copyright agreements with authors, budgetary requirements, cost analysis, journal finances, solicitation of outside resources and negotiation of contracts.
Schedule, coordinate and prepare the agenda for faculty advisory committee meetings and meetings with managing editors of law journals and others when appropriate.
Recommend various personnel actions, including, but not limited to, hiring, promotions, performance appraisals and vacation schedules; design and implement all phases of training.
Monitor compliance issues with all relevant postal regulations and other laws, rules or regulations pertaining to sales and circulation of the journals.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires the ability to develop, manage and direct publishing initiatives in both print and electronic formats, generally acquired through three years related experience.
