Occupational Summary
Work with senior academic and administrative officers in support of financial management, institutional research and/or institutional planning efforts within the Budgets, Planning and Institutional Research group in the Office of the Provost or the Medical Center Office of Finance and Resource Planning.
Work Performed
Work with senior academic and administrative officers to ensure budgetary compliance. Compile, analyze and report financial information and financial performance in the academic sector. Collect, analyze and interpret financial data relating to the academic sector and identify corresponding policy implications and/or recommendations. Analyze revenues and expenditures and prepare analyses for the Provost Management Center setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
Prepare studies on the cost allocations to schools. Assist the Director and Executive Vice Provost to determine the appropriate assignment of these expenses through the use of statistics. Work with financial analyst to build analyses of space use and associated costs to be able to allocate space costs to schools. Design and build financial models and reports that contribute to the financial planning efforts of the Provosts Office. Act as the primary liaison for the Provost's area to the implementation project for the enterprise-wide system (BPS, and BW).
Support financial services to schools and departments. Serve as a resource and expert on financial issues and processes for academic sector. Act as liaison with University Endowment/Investment Accounting and Treasury Offices and with PAMC on behalf of the Schools and Academic Support units. Respond to ad-hoc queries from Director of Academic Financial Services and Systems and Executive Vice Provost for Finance and Administration.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Masters level or higher degree in accounting or business administration or a related field with progressive knowledge/experience of both statistical analysis and interpretation required.
Experience
5 years minimum working in higher education institution
OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Skills
The position will require an extensive computer and data analysis background, a high level of organizational skills, and an in-depth understanding of business and accounting policies, processes and procedures. Effective communication skills and excellent writing abilities are also required. Significant experience working with both financial and non-financial data in a higher education context is also required. Advanced and demonstrated computer skills including superior knowledge of database management, decision support, spreadsheet analysis and word processing using Access or Brio Query, Hyperion Pillar and Hyperion Essbase, Excel/1-2-3and Microsoft Word.
