Occupational Summary

Provide leadership and direction for construction and/or design services in support of Duke University Health System projects.

Work Performed

Provide leadership and direction for construction and/or design services in support of Duke University Health System projects.

Assist in directing coordinating and scheduling work assignments in the production of new facilities for Duke University Health System (DUHS).

Ensure adherence to development and compliance to construction and/or design standards.

Develop measures to improve the cost estimating data and retrieval of cost data for estimating projects; and assist in developing project budgets.

Direct the process of project review and compliance with Duke standards, codes, regulations, laws and guidelines.

Further develop the commissioning process for projects and post occupancy evaluations.

Monitor construction and/or design to avoid litigation issues.

Assist in the selection and in evaluating the performance of consultants rendering services.

Establish and maintain contact with organizations, government agencies and educational and health care institutions.

Assist in managing personnel functions including hiring, firing, performance evaluations, salary recommendations, training and scheduling.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a Bachelor's Architecture or Engineering, or related field of study.

Experience

Work requires five year of progressively responsible construction management, engineering, facilities planning, or architecture experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
