Occupational Summary

Assist the Director in administration of an assigned program including coordination of external relations, student services, and general program management.

Work Performed

Administer assigned program areas including, but not limited to, planning, coordinating and implementing operations and activities such as classes, workshops, advertising, special events, staffing, financial and general business matters.

Advise student leaders on organizational, business, leadership, legal liabilities, financial administration and other issues including interpretation of University policies and procedures.

Plan and implement publicity/marketing activities to promote programs and events including, but not limited to, designing and preparing news releases, advertisements, brochures and other materials for circulation in specialized and mass media; establish and maintain contact with other departments, area businesses and industries to promote the program.

Interpret departmental policies and procedures, making decisions on specific operating problems and issuing instructions in the name of the program in accordance with precedents and established policies;

Develop, monitor and analyze budgets including, but not limited to, projecting expenditures and revenue.

Prepare financial and operational reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Serve as departmental liaison with other University offices concerning policies and procedures and general program administration; develop a base of knowledge and serve as resource to the staff and to students; keep abreast of information.

Represent the program on University and professional organizations, associations, committees and/or by presenting programs at professional meetings and conferences as appropriate. Train and supervise work of lower level employees, students, and volunteers as assigned.

Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, promotions, transfers, performance appraisals, and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work generally requires two years experience in personnel, college or university administration, or a related field to acquire skills necessary to provide program management, advising and general administrative support.
