Occupational Summary
Direct the operation of the Central Steam Plant, Chill Water Plants, Substations, ensuring delivery of steam, chilled water and electricity to the University and Medical Center. Directs the Purchase and provision of other utilities such as water and sewer services.
Work Performed
Formulate long-term power plant and distribution system capacity plans.
Implement protocols enforcing local, state, and federal emission regulations and issue required reports.
Direct programs of scheduled preventive maintenance.
Manage the development of energy management plan including policy, projects awareness, and saving iniatives.
Develop and control the utility services budget, ensuring that appropriate consumption levels are identified for all utilities.
Directs staff and exempt and non-exempt employees, including union.
Initiate and develop staff training programs and ensure that the actions and activities of the support staff comply with University policy and procedures.
Represent the department in a wide variety of meetings and committees to articulate utilities strategies and policies.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Bachelor's Degree required, Prefer Master's degree in business or engineering.
Experience
Work requires a minimum of ten years of experience in facilities management in complex environment. Experience in managing a large and diverse budget and unionized workforces.
