Occupational Summary

The Office of the Vice President for the Office for Institutional Equity (OIE) at Duke works across the Institution to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Institutional Equity Analyst reports to the Assistant Vice President Equal Opportunity Programs & Affirmative Action and supervises the Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Analyst as well as other staff within OIE who have significant work in on data entry, analytics, and reporting. In addition, the Institutional Equity Analyst is responsible for upholding proper data maintenance and reporting standards within OIE and working with personnel throughout Duke to perform data consulting, complex data analytics, and reporting related but not limited to topics of institutional equity including race, ethnicity, gender, disability, and veteran status.

Must have a strong understanding of standard data reporting guidelines, statistical and graphical processes, and have the ability to work and thrive within a diverse work environment with stakeholders from across Duke.

Work Performed

Performs duties of a complex, technical, and confidential nature in support of equal opportunity and affirmative action (EO/AA) programs and federal compliance reporting functions.

Performs routine and complex data analysis and reporting to multiple internal and external constituencies. Prepare reports illustrating a clear understanding and interpretation of the data.

Provides OIE colleagues with any data visualizations and ad hoc reports or statistics needed for presentations and communications related to Duke's EO/AA compliance obligations as well as any non-compliance related analytical work undertaken by OIE.

Supervises the work of the Equal Opportunity & Affirmative Action Analyst and other data-related work within OIE and responds to inquiries in the absence of the Assistant Vice President.

Collects, edit, reconcile complex and sensitive data from various sources including institutional enterprise systems and national databases for use in advanced analytics and technical reports and creates of user-friendly charts and tables for internal and external dissemination.

Designs, builds, and maintains templates, databases, and other data systems that streamline the storage and processing of data that OIE works with on a regular basis.

Completes, on a regular basis, reports that satisfy federally mandated EO/AA-requirements, including annual affirmative action plans and reports that detail workforce composition, personnel activity, pay equity analyses and trend analyses. This includes the collection and organized storage of all data used in such reports (e.g., workforce data, personnel activity data, compensation data, and labor market data).

Collaborates with personnel across Duke to produce descriptive analyses, synthesize findings, and clearly present these finding and methods used to internal and external audiences.

Works with the Assistant Vice President to establish and maintain strategic, creative, and innovative data-driven initiatives that proactively advance the goals of OIE.

Performs a wide range of statistical procedures including the interpretation of descriptive statistics, forecasting, regression analysis, time-series analysis, testing of correlation, and testing of survey data. In addition, from time-to-time, new statistics-based studies will need to be designed and executed.

Analyzes and provides written and graphical interpretations of quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends and practices at Duke and its peer institutions.

Ensures timeliness, accuracy, data integrity, and confidentiality.

Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Bachelor's degree in a research or analytical field of study such as statistics, economics, or mathematics. Master's preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in data modeling, analytics, and reporting.
