Occupational Summary
Serve as Associate Vice President for Administrative Systems including managing the Administrative Systems Management department and Financial Services Systems Support.
Work Performed
Direct ongoing support for, and implementation of, key administrative system applications for the Duke University and Duke University Health System including: SAP (Financial, HR/Payroll, Procurement, Sponsored Research, Alumni/Development, Business Warehouse, Portal); API (Time and Attendance, Staff Scheduling); BrassRing (Applicant Tracking); Effort Reporting System (e-CERT); ATS (Worker's Compensation); Mobius/Kofax/Norikkon (Document Imaging)
Plan for future administrative systems initiatives to meet key University and DUHS business objectives, and coordinate systems planning with functional advisory committees and SAP Sponsors group.
Provide leadership to functional team leads in providing quality production support for SAP and related applications with a focus on maintaining the integrity of SAP and maintenance of quality service to key business units.
Manage the Administrative Systems Management group including allocating resources, setting priorities and planning for team member professional growth.
Manage the Financial Services Systems Support group to provide required systems and building support for all of Financial Services.
Partner with leadership within the Office of Information Technology to determine and address technical resource requirements for key projects and initiatives.
Provide direct project management and leadership for SAP and non-SAP administrative implementations or initiatives as required.
Manage vendor relationships, including contractual relationships, with key software vendors including SAP, API, ASG, and Kenexa.
Determine fiscal requirements for individual IT projects, make projections and prepare project budgets, and prepare financial reports reflecting status of projects.
Develop and monitor the annual budget for Administrative Systems Management.
Perform other duties and special projects related to the duties described above and at the direction of the Vice President for Finance.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
Experience
A minimum of ten years of experience in business operations or financial management, preferably in higher education or health care.
Prefer experience in configuring and implementing modules in SAP (ECC, workflow and Business Warehouse), or a similar ERP system.
Ability to manage multiple projects/assignments, ability to work with a broad range of administrative, technical, and functional staff, and a broad understanding of University and Health System administration and operations are required.
