Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of administrative duties to relieve the President of Duke University Management Company (DUMAC) of details of executive business matters.

Work Performed

Perform a variety of administrative duties with wide latitude for exercising discretion and judgment. Receive and answer correspondence both in the name of the incumbent and in the name of the President.

Arrange for and schedule appointments for the President, DUMAC, including interviewing callers and making proper referrals; supervise the preparation of materials for meetings.

Study reports received; check and compare with previous reports and other data and bring to the attention of the President, DUMAC significant items, changes, errors or omissions; supervise the maintenance of office files keeping correspondence and reports available for reference and ensuring efficient operation of the office.

Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Supervise and coordinate the work of designated employees reviewing completed work for adherence to instructions and for correctness.

Recommend various personnel actions, including but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Experience

Knowledge generally acquired through a minimum of five years of executive secretarial experience of increasing variety and/or complexity, preferably within an investment environment.
