Occupational Summary

Responsible for the preparation of annual capital budget and plan, for developing financial information to senior management and the Board of Trustees, for providing comprehensive analysis and reporting on all capital projects, and for maintaining capital policies and procedures.

Work Performed

Manage and coordinate annual capital budget / plan.

Produce capital budget materials for Board of Trustees.

Develop and maintain capital budget policies and procedures.

Manage staff to perform routine analysis of capital projects and expenditures.

Collect, analyze and interpret financial data, and identify corresponding policy implications and/or recommendations.

Review capital projects requests for accuracy, and to ensure budgetary compliance.

Provide financial support related to capital projects, and serve as a resource and expert on capital budgeting issues and processes.

Coordinate debt ratio information with Treasurer.

Primary contact for capital budget functionality in SAP/R3.

Coordinate training program for end users.

Attend routine status meetings with project managers and departmental business managers.

Participate in strategy sessions involving major capital projects.

Provide support to Senior Management as required.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, business or related field, with successful completion of a certified public accountant status preferred.

Experience

Work requires a minimum of five years financial management experience, preferably specializing in higher education. The responsibilities of this position require the ability to coordinate the implementation of solutions; to identify and analyze accounting and financial reporting issues; to meet strict deadlines with accuracy; and the ability to work effectively with senior academic and administrative positions.
