Occupational Summary

Provide administrative direction to assigned programs within the Robertson Scholars Program to develop and implement program protocol, procedures and operating policies including programs supporting student development, external relations and summer enrichment programs.

Work Performed

Coordinate and participate in meetings to determine objectives of the program and to identify internal and external resources available to meet those objectives.

Partner with appropriate departments at both Duke and UNC-CH including, but not limited to, Student Affairs to forge alliances with key units to meet program goals; work closely with the admissions offices on both campuses to coordinate all promotional activities, including the production and distribution of a wide variety of printed materials.

Work with all Robertson Scholars (RS) to provide support including, but not limited to, guidance on course registration, organizing orientations, creating other mechanisms to make the campus switch an integral and positive part of the scholars' experience, information on campus events and resources to enhance their undergraduate experience, advice and support to students in exploring post-graduation career, graduate school and fellowship opportunities, including writing letters of recommendations and nomination for awards and honors, and creating meaningful summer enrichment experiences including community service internships in the southeastern United States as well as experiences abroad.

Establish relationships with agencies, non-governmental and international organizations, high schools, teachers and /or counselors to promote the program or develop summer enrichment experiences through a wide variety of media, including the Internet, letters and personal visits.

Monitor all field activities of the Robertson Scholars and working toward establishing ongoing relationships for the domestic and international enrichment programs.

Manage the content of the program's web site and participate in other media activities to help to gain national recognition for the program's innovative merit-scholarship and inter-campus collaboration.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires the ability to plan and administer programs and direct program activities within a specific functional area, generally acquired through three years of related experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
