Occupational Summary

Under broad and general guidance of the director, develop, implement, and evaluate an annual strategic and tactical plan to achieve established program performance goals. Oversee the planning and implementation process, ensuring regular monitoring reports. Adjust/modify efforts to meet established objectives. Manage and direct the Business Manager and Case Manager(s) to ensure the effectiveness of program management, system's implementation and regulatory compliance of Duke's workers' compensation and unemployment programs.

Work Performed

Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual strategic and tactical plan to achieve established program performance goals.

Oversee the planning and implementation process, ensuring regular monitoring reports. Adjust/modify efforts to meet established objectives.

Manage and direct the Business Manager and Case Manager(s) to ensure the effectiveness of program management.

Develop and manage tools to evaluate and measure program effectiveness.

Manage the drafting and production of program management / data analysis reports that are concise, timely, accurate and applicable.

Provide leadership and/or consulting across Duke related to workers' compensation issues.

Ensure workers' compensation programs are appropriately communicated, consistently administered and supported by appropriate quality control processes.

Serve as the technology specialist for the department and coordinate with IS on all technology needs and implementations.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

BA/BS with MBA preferred; or comparable combination of education, complex claims handling experience, and national level certification (example ARM certification) or willingness to attain certification within 4 years.

Experience

- Minimum of 7 years of experience in workers' compensation or benefits including at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior capacity

- Demonstrated competency in advanced negotiation, communication, presentation, and analytical skills

- Active NC DOI adjuster license
