Occupational Summary

Provide principal leadership for the University's first or second-year residential programs and manage related resources in ways that enhance the transition and residential experience of upper class students.

Work Performed

Recruit, train and supervise a multi-disciplinary staff team assigned to one of the residential campuses (East, West or Central), including but not limited to, live-in professionals, programmers, event managers, administrative support, and facilities maintenance and operations personnel.

Oversee graduate interns and undergraduate student employees. Manage the residential student leadership team of Graduate Residents and Resident Assistants.

Provide direction for facilities operations for a residential campus including student bedrooms, common areas, classrooms, and recreational spaces. Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance projects and cyclical replacement. Provide input to budget development and determination of priority for capital and non-capital projects

Manage and oversee budgets and expenses supporting general office operations, residential programming, and facilities maintenance. Ensure that cost control measures are in place and that University accounting procedures and policies are followed.

Provide direction and vision for a residential campus community characterized by a sense of belonging and significant individual connections with and between residents of the community. Coordinate efforts with critical partners including other Student Affairs departments and academic partners. Develop and sustain living environments that celebrate learning as an integral focus of the residential and University experience. Create opportunities for meaningful faculty-student interaction. Collaborate broadly on initiatives that engage students in out-of-classroom learning that enhances the academic experience.

Provide general direction and support for residential student governance. Plan and implement leadership development activities for students.

Collaborate with University colleagues to provide support to students in crisis, and facilitate effective responses to student behavioral issues as circumstances require. Serve on the University Emergency Dean-on- Call rotation responding to both undergraduate and graduate student emergencies.

Serve on the leadership team for Residence Life & Housing Services and represent RLHS in various divisional and University forums. Assist with related projects, including, but not limited to, marketing initiatives, departmental policy development, procedures documentation, assessment, programming initiatives, etc.

Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet departmental, Division and University goals and objectives.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Master's degree in higher education, student personnel or related field.

Experience

Five years of experience working with college and university residential communities with demonstrated history of increasing responsibility for supervision and managerial responsibilities. Previous experience as live-in staff is also required.

OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
