Occupational Summary

Responsible for clinical site development, student placements, and contractual agreements for Duke University School of Nursing students in clinical specialties and in non-clinical specialties, when applicable.

Work Performed

Responsible for the Masters, post-Masters, and ABSN program clinical placement process in accordance with Duke and facility policy and all applicable local, State, and Federal laws and regulations:

Work with faculty to gain an understanding of clinical course objectives and/or programmatic placement needs as well as any individual student needs.

Work with organization directors, facility administrators, and medical professionals to gain an understanding of practice flow, the type of experience(s) each facility can provide, learning objectives appropriate to the setting, as well as the type of group and/or individual student most compatible to the setting.

Review Certificates of Insurance for sites to assure that the liability requirements are sufficient to meet established program requirements.

Prepare Student Placement Packets. Issue placement notifications to faculty and students prior to the beginning of the semester in which the clinical rotation will take place.

Verify the number of hours completed and/or precepted for the purpose of professional certification and preceptor payment as applicable at the completion of the rotation.

Triage any problems with clinical placements to course faculty and specialty director.

Develop and maintain a clinical site database, which reflects relevant site information such as names and credentials of available preceptors, semesters available, and qualifications and numbers of students that the site can accommodate.

Oversee data collection, and prepare necessary reports for internal and external agencies.

Other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Supervision of clinical placement staff to accomplish all stated herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a general business back ground generally equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a business related field.

Experience

Three years experience working with or in clinical sites, placing students, and coordinating related documents preferred
