Occupational Summary

Supervise and coordinate administrative and technical activities of the laboratory.

Work Performed

Serve as the interface for teaching laboratories.

Assist faculty in the development of new lab for new courses.

Facilitate lab updates in keeping with Department's strategic planning.

Instruct and supervise lab personnel and student teaching assistants.

Plan and schedule work for lab personnel.

As needed, serve as Teaching Assistant.

Research and recommend major lab equipment purchases.

Prepare annual operating reports setting forth progress toward determined department goals and adverse trends for department chair.

Manage personnel functions.

Make budget projections and recommendations.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Bachelor's degree in engineering or field of science related to the position.

Experience

Work requires a minimum of 5-7 years experience in laboratory management.

OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Skills

Analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Knowledge of personal computers including Linux, LabView, and MatLab.

Management of personnel, budgets, and coordination of a research/teaching facility.
