Occupational Summary

This position is responsible for providing technical support for the CAD/GIS staff, including general support for GIS products used within the group.

Work Performed

Responsible for developing, documenting, and implementing GIS data maintenance processes & associated workflow.

Assists the IT Manager and Assoc. Director for Systems & Engineering in developing long-term and short-term objectives, as well as preparing the annual GIS budget.

Provides technical support for the CAD/GIS staff, including general support for GIS products used within the group; development of custom tools & reports that identify data errors; development for custom tools that streamline GIS data maintenance workflow; and general GIOS database administration.

Provide leadership and direction to CAD/GIS staff in development and furtherance of departmental GIS initiative.

Provide technical guidance and direction to the CAD/GIS staff in the interpretation and implementation of specifications and requirements and the procurement and use of CAD and GIS files and databases.

Make oral presentations of system analysis, design, and operational data in a clear, concise and non-technical manner.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Geography, or related field.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Experience

Five years experience as a GIS mapping technician or supervisor, at least three of which involved managing and developing mapping applications for computer/data systems.

Demonstrated supervisory experience preferred.
