Description: This is a 3 part workshop, comprised of one-hour sessions held on three consecutive Thursday evenings.
First, we will explore "Resumes at Duke: Best Practices," During this session we will touch on key resume questions, "What is the most effective resume for a job search at Duke"? "Should I have more than a one page resume "? "What are typical key words for the resume?" "Which font is ideal for the resume"?
You will learn tips for writing a strong resume for Duke's online applicant tracking system.
Session two is "Recruitment and the Transfer Process". An active job search is much more than a resume posted online at hr.duke.edu/careers. Understanding job descriptions, networking, the Recruiter's role/Manager's role, challenges, when you want to find a new opportunity at Duke, and how to identify the right jobs are keys to being successful in your search. Staff from HR recruitment will provide insight on seeking a transfer at Duke.
Session three "Interviewing 101". You've prepared your resume, identified your focus, applied for jobs, and now you are getting calls for interviews! Interviewing 101 shares tips on how to prepare for an interview, how to navigate typical interview scenarios, and how to follow-up after an interview. Learn suggestions on what TO DO and what TO AVOID. Join us as you continue building Your Career at Duke.
