Bio:
My name is Erica Lobaugh-Jin. I am a Registered Nurse in the Infection Prevention and Epidemiology Department at Duke University Hospital. After completing my BSN from Kent State University, I took my first RN position at The Ohio State University Medical Center where I worked on a medical/surgical unit. I then moved back to northeast Ohio to work in a Level I Trauma intensive care unit for the next 9 years. It was there that I took on many different roles in addition to my job at the bedside. I took part in many of our shared governance committees in nursing and also co-chaired our Nursing Council. Eight years ago I decided I take a new path and join the Infection Prevention Department. I completed my training with the UNC Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology while still practicing in Ohio. Two years after that became certified in Infection Control and Epidemiology. I moved to NC and began working at Duke 3 years ago. Here, my attention is on the inpatient oncology departments, BMT inpatient and outpatient, and the Labor and Delivery/Antepartum/Post-partum units. My responsibilities include; providing evidence-based practice education and recommendations for the safety of patients as well as staff members, construction risk assessments, policy writing and review, and observations of practices and the environment just to name a few. I love what I do and I'm looking forward to expanding my personal growth and professional development.
