Jamie Mills is a Grants and Contracts Manager at the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI). He has worked at Duke since April 2014, when he was hired as a Grants and Contracts Administrator at DGHI. He assists faculty with appointments to the Global Health Institute (both from the School of Medicine and Campus) to apply for and manage grants that address global health disparities. He supports research that takes place in China, India, Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Peru, and Brazil (among others). Prior to working at Duke, he worked in the field of refugee resettlement in North Carolina, as a Case Worker at a local resettlement program in New Bern (2008-2009), as an Office Director for a local resettlement program in Wilmington (2009-2012), and as a Policy Consultant for the North Carolina State Refugee Office at the Department of Health and Human Services (2012-2014) in Raleigh. Jamie is married to Liz Aronin, a Nurse Practitioner, and has two children, Quinn (4-years-old) and Josie (18-months-old). Quinn has a rare disease that was discovered by Duke Researchers two years ago; as of this time, there are 13 known individuals around the world with Quinn's genetic mutation. Jamie and his wife are working with researchers to discover short-term solutions for Quinn's most challenging symptoms as well as long-term discoveries for how to treat/cure the genetic mutation. Jamie enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and watching his Clemson Tigers' football team during college football season.
