Bio:
Emily Durham is the founding Program Director of the Rubenstein-Bing Student-Athlete Civic Engagement
Program (ACE), a collaboration between Duke and Stanford Athletics to provide immersive, international
service experiences for D-I student-athletes. She graduated from Pomona College with a B.A. in English
and completed her master's degree in higher education at UPenn. After graduating from Pomona, she spent a
year on a Fulbright Fellowship in Hongseong, South Korea, teaching English in a public elementary school
while living with a host family and volunteering at a local youth center. Before starting with ACE in
2015, Emily worked for over five years at DukeEngage managing faculty and staff-led international and US-
based programs and directing the DukeEngage in Seattle program. A North Carolina native and former
collegiate student-athlete, Emily loves continuing to discover new places in N.C. from the beach to the
mountains, cooking Korean food, and spending time outdoors. She's made it her goal to attend every
athletic competition offered at both schools at least once!
Headquartered at Duke University, Emily oversees all administrative and programmatic functions of the ACE
program with substantial input from her counterparts at Stanford University.
