Bio:
Lauren Cohen is an Assistant Director at the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) and leads operations
for the Pragmatic Health Services Research (PHSR) group. A hallmark of the PHSR group is a focus on
innovative and pragmatic research designs that leverage real-word data generated in the course of daily
health care. Lauren joined the DCRI in 2016 to lead the PCORnet Coordinating Center and support a
national research network enabled by electronic health records. Prior to joining the DCRI, she spent
over a decade at the University of North Carolina in research operations.
Outside of PCORnet and the projects that it supports, she has led various research programs within the
DCRI include the Healthcare Worker Exposure Response and Outcomes (HERO) portfolio of COVID-19 research,
as well as the CardioHealth Alliance network. She routinely helps to design and support pragmatic trials
within the DCRI, spanning across an array of therapeutic areas.
She has authored or co-authored more than 75 articles in peer reviewed journals, contributed to book
chapters and reviews, and presented at dozens of state, national, and international conferences. She
holds a Master's degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University, and is a certified Project Management
Professional.
