Bio:
Shannon Dodd is the Nurse Manager of Operations (NMO) for DUH N-6300, Surgical Oncology Inpatient Unit at Duke University Hospital. Shannon began her nursing career at DUH in 2015 as a Clinical Nurse on the same surgical oncology unit. She graduated from North Carolina Central University in 2011 with a Biology Degree and then from Durham Technical Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing in 2015. She has since obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Shannon was hired as the Clinical Team Lead on her unit in August of 2019 followed by the NMO role in May of 2020. Shannon is a proud member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), and Triangle Oncology Nursing Society (TONS). In 2023, Shannon was fortunate enough to speak alongside Tracy Gosselin, former Chief Nursing Officer at Duke University Hospital, as a podium speaker at the Oncology Nursing Society Congress where their topic was "Leading Change in Today's Workforce: The Path to High-Quality Cancer Care." Shannon also holds certifications as a Certified Nurse Manager Leader and Board-Certified Nurse in Medical Surgical nursing. During her free time, she enjoys serving her community alongside her church and as a member of the graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in Burlington, NC. Shannon's professional goals are to continue to learn and grow in the area of Nursing Leadership with the entire DUHS team!
