Bio:
Tawana Reed began her employment at Duke in August of 2016 in an entry level Coordinator position scheduling appointments for the Duke Eye Center. In November of 2017, she was offered a position as a Program Specialist with Duke Speech Pathology & Audiology. She worked briefly at Duke University School of Nursing in a Clinical Placement Coordinator role until she was offered her first supervisor position, as an Administrative Coordinator with Duke Speech Pathology and Audiology in February of 2020. In August of 2022, Tawana transitioned into Duke School of Medicine and began with her current Department as an Administrative Coordinator for The Doctor of Physical Therapy Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and was promoted in July of 2023 to an Administrative Manager.

In her current role, she supports the Operations of the DPT program and manages the support staff in areas of Curriculum, Clinical Education, Admissions, Education Technology, Administration, Students Services and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Tawana has held several positions within Duke and has gained jewels from each one of them and it helped her to grow within the organization. Being a new manager and now in a position to manage managers, she intends to utilize what she learns in the Duke Management Academy to continue her professional development and effectively support her team in their professional development.
