Bio:
Christa Rutledge began her career at Duke in 2008, and has served in various capacities within the health
system with a focus on patient care in an outpatient setting. Christa is certified through the AAPC
(American Academy of Professional Coders) as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and is currently a
Service Access Team Lead with Duke Health North Durham and the Duke Outpatient Clinic.
Duke Health North Durham is a multi-specialty clinic located on N Roxboro Street in Durham. At DHND
patients are able to see Duke providers that specialize in Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Wound Care,
Geriatrics, Keto Clinic as well as Infectious Disease.
The Duke Outpatient Clinic is a primary care internal medicine clinic that cares for a population that is
majority-minority, poor and underserved. Behavioral health diagnoses affect more than half as well. It
is also the home to nearly 80 trainees each year, including medicine residents, medical student, pharmacy
residents and students and social work interns.
Christa is passionate about not only our patients, but about leading these completely different teams to
success. Aside from overseeing the daily operations of these complex clinics, Christa focuses on ways to
improve the health of the clinic as a whole while simultaneously providing support to each team member
for them to be as successful as they can be. Christa is often referred to as a "Steel Magnolia", for her
ability to face situations head on with grace and poise.
Christa enjoys spending time with her husband, sons and friends. She loves dogs and curling up with a
good book.
