Bio:
Phyllis Kennel received her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Masters of Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She has been a licensed Registered Dietitian since 1989 and has served in leadership positions for local and state dietetics boards over the past 15 years.
She is currently the Director of Research Oversight and Compliance (ROCC) in the Center for Nursing Research and the Research Practice Manager for the School of Nursing (SON) Clinical Research Unit. As Director of the ROCC, she is responsible for providing support and education around research compliance and implementation of research studies for the SON. She manages 15 employees and has been at the SON for the past 4 years. Prior to SON, she worked for the Institute for Genome Science & Policy here at Duke and for 6 years at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing as a program director for a large public health, multi-site research study.
