Bio:
Carolyn Mackman joined the School of Medicine in September 2010 and serves as the Dean's Chief of Staff. Carolyn reports directly to Dean Nancy C. Andrews and is responsible for managing the programs and projects initiated by the Dean and her senior leadership team. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to oversight of the administrative Dean's suite staff, planning the Dean's senior leadership meetings, staffing various executive committees and implementing new and on-going initiatives. Carolyn earned a B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and a M.Phil. in Medical Microbiology form the University of Leicester in England. Carolyn's career has involved working in biotechnology companies as a researcher, and in a private research institute in the Office of Institutional Animal Care and Use. Prior to joining Duke, she served in the Office of Human Research Ethics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
