Pakis Bessias serves as the Manager of Information Technology at Duke's Graduate School. His responsibilities include short and long range planning for effective use of computing resources as well as acquisition, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of software and hardware.
Pakis serves as the IT Security Officer for the Graduate School and represents the School in ITAC (Information Technology Advisory Council). He is a member of various campus computing groups, including the Site License Committee and the IT Council.
Pakis started his career at Duke in the department of Plant Accounting. There he had the opportunity to visit every building and facility on campus, in Duke Hospital, and at the Marine Lab in Beaufort. From there he went on to work at the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) as an Analyst Programmer. He has worked at The Graduate School since 1996.
Pakis is a graduate of Durham Tech and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
