Bio:
Julie Barker is the executive director for the Duke Kunshan Support Unit at Duke University. Her career in higher education has spanned over 25 years and includes extensive international experience. Prior to joining Duke in June 2015, she served as chief operating officer at Texas A&M University's branch campus in Qatar. Before moving to the Middle East, she was assistant vice president and chief of staff in the Division of Research at Texas A&M. In this position, she coordinated all international activities for the Division with a focus on Asia, Latin America and Qatar. Julie played a principal role in organizing a major biennial conference series (2002-2009) focused on US-China relations for the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation.

Julie has a longstanding interest in China and has traveled there on numerous occasions, both personally and professionally. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University and an Executive MBA from HEC-Paris in Qatar.
