Bio:
Dr. Uzarski is Chief of Staff to the Dean, School of Nursing. In this role, she implements special initiatives in the Dean's Office, including the implementation of DUSON's strategic plan, and the Education pillar of the Duke Health strategic plan. She is also part-time faculty at the School, teaching leadership in the doctor of nursing practice program.
In her previous School of Medicine role, Dr. Uzarski was the Associate Director of the Biobanking Program, Duke Translational Research Institute. She provided business development, planning and operations consultation to support researcher and organization-based biorepositories at Duke, in addition to project management support of biomarker research projects. She was responsible for managing Duke's partnerships with commercial biobanking partners, and served served as lead project manager of the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Network (PCORNet) Biorepository Task Force.
Dr. Uzarski's healthcare career spans over 35 years. Her areas of expertise have included business development and health services planning, legal consulting, childhood injury prevention policy planning, health services marketing, and emergency and critical care nursing. She served for two terms many as the San Francisco Tenderloin YMCA Board of Directors as the board vice-chair and annual campaign chair.
Dr. Uzarski earned her nursing diploma from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Iona College. She holds a Master in Public Health degree with a major in health policy and administration from University of California, Berkeley, and earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the Duke University School of Nursing in 2015.
