Bio:
Rebecca Namenek Brouwer, MS is the Director of the Duke Office of Research Initiatives. In this role, she is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership of special research initiatives and engagement activities for Duke researchers. One of the largest initiatives in her office involves the myRESEARCH suite of resources. The myRESEARCHnavigators team in her office is responsible for providing 1:1 onboarding consultations for research faculty across Duke, to ensure that they are oriented to services, administrative processes, potential collaborators, and other resources that can enable success of their research. She and her team led the development and ongoing innovation of the myRESEARCHhome portal and myRESEARCHpath, an interactive research roadmap to help the research community discover resources, services and processes in the context of the research lifecycle. Her office also provides facilitation services specific to researchers working with sensitive research data. Rebecca and her staff are supported by the CTSA, the School of Medicine, and the Office of Research.
Ms. Brouwer has been at Duke since 2000. Her previous roles include Product Owner in the Office of Research Informatics, the Associate Director of Clinical Research Operations in the School of Medicine, and research team member or lead for various behavioral/prevention research portfolios. She received a B.S. from the College of William & Mary, and an M.S. from Eastern Michigan University.
