Bio:
Johanna Zawada has been the Associate Director for Benefits in the Duke Office of Human Resources since April 2021. She oversees the retirement plans for the University and the Health System. She has operational responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the plans as well as the Benefits Service Team, providing benefits to over 45,000 employees, participants, and retirees. She leads a team of approximately 25 highly skilled and dedicated benefits professionals. Prior to coming to Duke, Johanna worked at DePaul University in Chicago for 12 years, directing the full portfolio of health, retirement, and voluntary benefit plans. Prior to her tenure at DePaul, she was with Aon Consulting for 12 years, working as a Benefits Project Manager. Johanna lives in Pittsboro, NC with her husband and three daughters.
