Bio:
Ben has been at Duke for almost 25 years: first as a graduate student in math, then as a Learning Consultant in the Academic Resource Center (ARC), and now as an Academic Dean in Pratt. During his time at Duke, he has spent time supporting students both through one-on-one meetings as well as through larger programs and initiatives. In the Academic Resource Center he helped organize and run math study groups for all calculus classes and helped found the math mentoring program for female students interested in math. In Pratt, he works closely with the directors of undergraduate studies (DUSes) to plan improvements to the undergraduate experience. He has helped reorder the math sequence for all Pratt students and is currently helping to run a pilot of Physics and Math co-required classes. Ben graduated from MIT with a SB in Math Applied to Computer Science (18C) and has a PhD in Mathematics from Duke.
