Bio:
Jim Gortner is a seasoned professional with over 30 years
of expertise in facilities operations, maintenance, and
capital construction. As the Director of Building Renewal
& Project Support at Duke's Facilities Management
Department, Jim spearheads the development, management,
and coordination of Duke's facility renewal and
assessment program, ensuring optimal conditions for the
university's buildings and infrastructure. Prior to his
tenure at Duke, Jim held numerous leadership roles at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he
managed complex facilities and oversaw capital
construction projects. He has a Master of Science in
Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University
of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science in Construction
Management.
