Bio:
Lowell Tyler is the interim Chief Administrative Officer
for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Duke
University School of Medicine. He was previously the
Division Administrator for Vascular & Endovascular
Surgery; Trauma, Acute and Critical Care Surgery and
Abdominal Transplant Surgery in the Department of
Surgery. Lowell has operational and strategic experience
in academic medical center and vertically integrated
delivery system environments. His skill sets include
data-driven and analytical business management
approaches; success with building capacity and growing
service lines; fostering collaborative physician
relationships; and leading diversity, equity and
inclusion efforts.
Prior to joining Duke, Lowell served in several
capacities at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit,
Michigan. These roles include Practice Administrator in
the Department of Surgery, Assistant to the CEO, and
Administrative Fellow.
Lowell holds master's degrees in Healthcare
Administration and Business Administration from Georgia
State University, as well as a bachelor's degree from
Clemson University. He is also a Fellow in the American
College of Healthcare Executives.
