Julie Schoonmaker is a dynamic leader in multimedia storytelling, serving as Director of Multimedia Production at Duke's Office of Communications and Marketing. With over a decade of expertise in communications and production, she empowers teams to craft visually compelling multimedia content that captivates audiences and drives trust and awareness by sharing Duke's story far and wide. Julie spearheads Duke's Video and Photo Working Group, fostering innovation and collaboration across the university's content creators. Before joining Duke, Julie spent nearly 10 years as a television news reporter, mastering the art of fast-paced storytelling - filming, writing, editing, and delivering live reports across North Carolina. Outside of work, Julie serves as PTA president at her kids' elementary school. She enjoys running, traveling, and cheering on her kids playing their favorite sports!
