General Description of the Job Class

Perform a variety of skilled duties associated with the operation of specialized equipment to assist physicians in the examination and treatment of diseases of the eye.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Perform multiple ophthalmic imaging procedures including but not limited to color fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, slit lamp photography, Fluorescein and ICG angiography and basic ultrasonography.

Demonstrates proficiency with ophthalmic terminology and efficiently and accurately uses and navigates electronic medical records systems.

Engage in continuous learning and skill development for other ophthalmic imaging techniques, such as external photography, OCTA, basic B-scan ultrasonography, basic UBM, ERGs, and Microperimetry.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Work requires an educational background generally equivalent to a high school education.

Experience

One year of work-related experience in ophthalmic imaging is required. Basic ophthalmic imaging experience is preferred. Basic Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others.

Able to record activities, document assessments, plan of care, interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status.

Able to use computer and learn new software programs.

Able to withstand prolonged standing and walking.

Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.

Willingness to adapt to high pace and fast changing situations.
