Occupational Summary
Perform the more complex clerical and manual tasks in receiving, verifying, storing, issuing, and shipping various supplies, materials, and equipment for Duke University.
Work Performed
Perform the more complex clerical and manual tasks in University storerooms in receiving, verifying, storing, issuing, and shipping various materials in accordance with established University procedures.
Receive and unpack shipments and verify contents against purchase orders and invoices; record receiving reports on all merchandise; prepare reports concerning shortages and damaged materials received.
Coordinate the transport and transfer of supplies and equipment from one area to another and the filling of requisitions from various departments by setting priorities and ensuring they are met.
Maintain outstanding order, purchase order, receiving, requisition, delivery, and shipping files; conduct special and scheduled stockroom inventories and audits of records; provide supervisor with receiving and shipping activity reports.
Receive outgoing shipments returned for credit, exchange or repair; pack merchandise for shipping; ensure merchandise is properly packed and shipped by advising Material Control Clerks involved in packing and by arranging with transport companies for pick up and delivery of merchandise; type shipping notices and bills of lading.
Determine priorities and assign duties to other personnel in order to meet those priorities when the supervisor is absent. Train new personnel.
Maintain clean and orderly conditions is assigned areas.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires the ability to provide and follow instructions, record and log information generally acquired through a partial high school education. Ability to transport and deliver supplies required.
Experience
Work requires six months experience as a Material Control Clerk.
